Alright, so here are a few pictures of me at work...plus a few of my friends. School has been pretty cool, although ridiculously hard. I'm getting a little bit stir crazy from being in a set all-school routine lately...spring break can't come soon enough! I did just get checked off on all of my requirements as far as instrumentation on my student partner (that's Maira with me...we work on each other about 2 days a week), which means that I get to start seeing patients all by myself on Wednesday!!! That is, if I can find a patient to come in Wednesday at 8am and Friday at 1. Oh, the joys of searching for my own patients--I can't wait until I work in a practice.

Alright, so we've been slacking on this blog thing for a while. For that, we apologize. Now that that's out of the way... I suppose a brief update is in order.

Well, Jeff just finished his first quarter of his second year of grad school. It was yet another really intense quarter for the poor guy, but he managed to keep his head above water and pull out an A and a B. Yay! While he was working on classes and 3rd or 4th thesis idea (let's hope this one goes well), I was completely busy with my first quarter of dental hygiene school. Between driving to and from Yakima every day, seven classes lasting from about 8-4, and homework until about 11 each night...we didn't get very much time to ourselves. That stunk, so I quit my job at Starbucks in late November--a move that helped SO much in both freeing up a little time to spend with Jeff, and of course easing with my crunch for time to study too. It all worked out. After a super stressful finals week, I ended up with 4 A-'s and 3 A's. (Yes, that adds to 7 classes).

What else? Whitney (me, obviously) turned 21 in December. Exciting times, especially having an anesthesiology final on my birthday- ug. Naturally, I bought beer and all that. Didn't drink much of it though...beer is nasty stuff. We did get to go out to Sugar Thai, my absolute favorite restaurant in the entire world, which was amazing as usual!

I think that wraps everything up nicely--at least bringing us to the present. Jeff and I left Ellensburg at about 12:30 am Saturday and drove the 13 or 14 hours to Reno. Woot. We stayed overnight at his brother, Jamie's house, then we all three left at about 5:30 Sunday morning to drive to Mesa, AZ. Although that drive was another 16 hours or so, it went a lot faster with an extra person to keep us awake and entertained. While we were in AZ, Jeff and I visited his Grandpa Jim a couple of times, and even were able to make a stop at my Grandma and Papa Joe's house for dinner. That was especially fun for me, since we were able to get my aunt Lisa, cousins Garrett and Krystal, and Krystal's husband Sean all there too. For stew. :) Very tasty. After all that, we drove back to Reno on Wednesday morning. It's been A LOT of driving, to say the very least. Coming up next: a Christmas party at Jeff's Uncle Larry's house; Christmas dinner on Sunday; return trip to Ellensburg Monday morning; and a subsequent drive to the west side in time for Christmas. Oh joy. It will all be fun--just the driving process is trying to do me in... and largely succeeding.

So there--a not-so-brief update. Sorry, but no pictures this time. We'll see what comes next.

Well, I went hunting with my dad again this year. It was a lot of fun. We didn't kill anything, but I'll have more chances in the future. It is always so refreshing and nice to get away and hike around for a weekend... and I love the father-daughter time. Anyway, although it was an unfruitful hunt, we did get a few pictures the first day, so why not post them here?

Ok, so I guess I'll try this whole blogging idea. Who knows if I'll keep it up, but I think I like the idea of it all, so why not try to start?

I guess a general update would be good. So, our first year of marriage went well. We celebrated our one year anniversary over about 3 weeks, first with a small outing to the Mongolian Grill (warning: the location in Yakima is horrible, steer clear), then a hike up Red Top lookout on our actual anniversary, and finally with a trip to Seattle to see the Phantom of the Opera at the Paramount (my favorite). It was sooo much fun, and very nice to be able to take some time for ourselves, rather than the day-to-day work/school monotony.

Now, however, it's all back to business as usual. I started dental hygiene school at Yakima Valley Community College this quarter. Translation: stress, tests, too much information to cram into one brain and regurgitate with 100% accuracy and understanding, and close to 2 hours of driving every weekday, except most Thursdays. That being said, despite all of the stress and the fact that school consumes my entire life right now, it's exciting to know that I'll be done in a couple of years and be able to start a life, school free. Plus working in people's mouths is so interesting and exciting for me. I love it.

Meanwhile, Jeff is in his 2nd year of grad school at CWU in their resource management program. Also completely busy, but we sometimes see each other for dinner. :) He's had to change his thesis a couple of times, but the latest plan is sounding good. I don't remember all of the specifics (new information finds a hard time sticking in my brain around head&neck anatomy, dental fundamentals, etc), but the gist of it (I think) is documenting Wilson Creek that runs through Ellensburg and the migration obstacles and diversions fish face throughout. He was going to do a larger expanse of the creek and include more of it to the north, but there has been a lot of problem with farmers harassing people doing sampling and even shootings. I like the new idea...less chance of death.

Anyway, I think that's as good an update as any. I'll add some pictures from our hike, I think. They are above, and I'm not sure I'll try and move them.
